Creating a resume is an important part of applying for a job. Before one is considered for an interview, resumes are the first thing that is looked at by the employer. To make a resume one must first determine what type of resume one will employ. There are three different types of resumes, the chronological resume, the functional resume, and the combination resume.
A chronological resume list, in reverse chronological order one’s previous job titles and job description from the most recent to the most distant. This type of resume demonstrates what kind of experience one has and what fields one has experience in. This makes it easier for employers to see whether one qualifies for the job one is applying to. This is applicable or people who are looking to advance in the same field.
A functional resume list skills and experience that is related to the position one is applying to. It highlights one’s achievements and is organized in a way that one’s strengths and relevant skills and experience are the main focus of the resume. This is ideal for people who have had an extensive amount of work experience.
The last type is the combination resume. As its name indicates, it is the combination of the chronological and functional resumes. The resume will contain skills and relevant experience one may have together with a reverse chronological order of work experience. This type of resume is ideal for use by fresh graduates and people who are planning to change profession.
