Resume is a very important part of the business world. Employers look at resumes first before determining if an applicant is qualified for the position being offered. Applicants try to impress by placing significant information that qualifies them for the position they are applying for.
So, how to make a resume that will provide one with a better chance at getting that job? First of all one has to think of a statement that will serve as an objective that will convey the focus and purpose of the resume. It must also be specific to the job one is applying for showing sincerity and determination in getting the job.
Next is providing basic personal information like age, home address, mailing address, e-mail address, some educational background, and contact numbers. This lets the interviewer get to know the applicant a little better. For fresh graduates, the educational background can be in a different section as it will be the focus of the resume. This can also include trainings one have had.
Next step is choosing what type of resume one will be creating. A reverse chronological resume provides a detailed history of jobs one had over the years. This includes job title and job description. A functional resume contains jobs one used to have and organized by skills used or field it is in. A combination of the two types of resume mentioned can also be made. This will include skills, experience, and training one has acquired then a chronological list of past jobs and their description.
