Outback Steakhouse Bread Recipe

recipe secrets

The Outback Steakhouse is well known for its, well, steak. Though, it is not all they serve. They have a very wide spread their patrons can choose from, among these are their house breads. Fortunately, there is an Outback Steakhouse bread recipe one could create at home.

This recipe for the Outback Steakhouse Bushman bread yields 8 servings and may take up to 3 and a half hours to prepare. The dough requires 2 cups of bread flour, a tablespoon of cocoa, 1 and a half cup of warm water, half a cup of honey, 2 tablespoons of softened butter, 2 and a quarter teaspoons of yeast, a teaspoon of salt, 2 teaspoons of instant coffee and a tablespoon of granulated sugar.

Mix all the dry ingredients except for the yeast in a large bowl, as soon as everything is incorporated, create a hole, similar to a crater in the middle of the mixture and pour in the butter, honey, warm water and yeast in the center.

Gradually fold in the dry ingredients drawing from the sides to the center with a spatula. As soon as the dough is soft and mixed, one must need to begin kneading it for about 10 minutes until it gains an even color. Replace the dough in to the bowl and cover it; leave the bowl in a warm place for about an hour to allow the dough to rise. When the dough has risen double its size, punch it in and divide it in to 8 loaves.

Dust the loaves with cornmeal and place the loaves in a baking sheet and cover with plastic wrap and leave for another hour to let it rise further. A few minutes before the dough has finished rising, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. As soon as the hour for rising is done, remove the cover and bake the loaves for 20 minutes or until done.
