When you’re writing your resume, one of the first things you need to look for are career objective examples for resumes. These are simple, one sentence introductions stating the purpose of your application. While they may seem unimportant, they’re actually the ones that open your entire career path ahead of you.
Direct and succinct
Most applicants make the mistake of writing longwinded career objectives for their resumes. The simple fact is that your recruiters and prospective employers don’t have a lot of time to try to decipher what you mean with your confused objective statement.
As much as possible, you should present your career objective in a short but strong manner. Ideally, it should reflect where you are right now as a professional, and where you plan to go with your application. For example, if you’re already a writer, and you wish to apply for an editorial post, you can state your objective in this manner: “To allow my writing career to progress successfully”.
That objective statement is hardly a statement, actually, because it’s more of a phrase. However, with that single phrase, you’re already able to tell the recruiter or prospective employer that you’re currently in a writing career, and you’re just presently looking for a progressive and promising niche in the same field.
Watch your grammar
Sometimes applicants are too excited about applying for a position that they become clumsy when they write their resumes. It is very important that your resumes are grammatically flawless. Any typographical or grammatical errors on your resume, especially your objective statement, can make you lose out on an important career opportunity in a split-second.
